3/27/2020 Distance Learning for March 27, 2020

You do not have to do assignments in this order, you may choose the order depending on what you see here. 


Reading/Language Arts: Stuart Little Reading Test for Chapters 6-10. There are 5 short answer questions that need to be answered in complete sentences, 4 multiple choice questions, 6 fill in the blank, and the story of the Gingerbread Man where you will have to add “quotation marks” to show dialogue or that someone is speaking. Quotations marks look like this “            “ around words. We see them all the time when we are reading a story. It shows us someone is talking. We will go over your test at our Zoom meeting in the morning. Send me your reading test when you are done.


Math: 30-40 minutes on i-Ready. You must be doing this daily. I am using i-Ready for attendance this week for your distance learning.


Writing: Choose a Journal Prompt for today and answer it completely. Use complete sentences or a paragraph depending on which prompt you pick. Proofread you work. Please illustrate your writing.


Technology: 10-15 minutes each on Keyboarding Without Tears and Hour of Code.


Science: Finish building your “Junkbot” robot. Don’t forget to send me a picture. I can’t wait to see your creations.


Religion: Read your Good News for this week and complete the activities. You should have it in the packet of papers you took home before we left school. The Bible readings for today are: Wisdom 2:1A, 12-22 and John 7:1-2, 10, 25-30.

 
 
3/26/2020 Distance Learning for 3/26/20

Reading/Language Arts: Read Chapter 10 – “Springtime” in Stuart Little, p. 67-71. This is a very short chapter. You will need to answer the 5 comprehension questions in complete sentences, locate and define the vocabulary words: delicatessen, permanent, offhand, and obliged. You may use Google for your definitions. Complete the Point of View activity by filling in the two charts, planning out our letter from Snowbell’s point of view and writing the letter from Snowbell’s point of view. I would like you to scan or take a picture of the Point of View activity and send it to me when you have completed it. Keep working on your storyboard.


Writing: Your writing today is your Snowbell letter.


Math: 30-40 minutes on i-Ready. You must be doing this daily. I am using i-Ready for attendance this week for your distance learning.


Technology: 10-15 minutes each on Keyboarding Without Tears and Hour of Code.


Religion: Read pages 39-42 in your Family Life book, complete the Caring for Baby Mammal activity on p. 41 and Care for New Life activity on p. 42. The Bible readings for today are - Ex 32:7-14 and John 5:31-47.


Science: STEM activity – Build a “Junkbot” robot. Since you just read an article in Scholastic News “A Sea of Plastic” I would like you to create a “Junkbot” robot using of materials you can recycle. You can use materials like paper towel rolls, plastic bottles, cans, or anything else you might put into your recycle basket, be creative. I would like you to build your “Junkbot” robot by Friday and e-mail me a picture of it. Gather up your materials and have fun!

Reading/Language Arts: Read Chapter 9 – A Narrow Escape in Stuart Little, p. 57-66. Answer the 4 Questions on Stuart Little Chapter 9-10 Questions and the first 4 questions on Chapter 9 A Narrow Escape. You do not need to answer #5. Locate and define the chapter vocabulary words: Irish Terrier, shinny, hoisted, anxious, scow and gingerly. Please make sure you answer your questions in complete sentences.


Writing: Choose a Journal Prompt for today and answer it completely. Use complete sentences or a paragraph depending on which prompt you pick. Proofread your work. Please illustrate your writing.


Math: 30-40 minutes on i-Ready. You must be doing this daily. I am using i-Ready for attendance this week for your distance learning.


Technology: 10-15 minutes each on Keyboarding Without Tears and Hour of Code.


Religion: In your Family Life book, read Lesson 5 Being Alive on p. 35-38. Complete the Figuring Out a Flower activity on p. 37 and Signs of God’s Love activity on p. 38.


Social Studies: Access Scholastic News https://sn3.scholastic.com, our class code is sgsGrade3! After you log in, on the left, click on Text Sets, then click on the box Protecting Our Environment, Click on the article Sea of Plastic. Read this article. When you are done, at the bottom of the article, click on Close Reading Questions. This is a PDF, you can type the answers to the questions here. You can either have mom or dad download your answers or take a screen shot and e-mail them to me, whichever way is easier for them. If you would rather write your answers on a piece of paper, take a picture and e-mail it to me that is fine too.

3/24/2020 Distance Learning for March 24, 2020

Reading/Language Arts: Read Chapter 8 from Stuart Little, pages 47-56. Answer questions 5, 6 and 7 from the Stuart Little Chapters 7-8 Questions page and answer the 5 questions on the "Margalo" page and complete the sequencing activity. Locate and define the Chapter 8 words: penetrate, nip, gargle, descended and crouched. You may use Google if you want for your definitions. Keep working on your story board, you should have 1 drawing for each chapter by the time your are done (8 drawings so far).


Writing: Pick a Journal Prompt for today and complete the activity or write a complete 3rd grade paragraph (5-7 complete, well thought out sentences). Illustrate your work.


Math: Complete 30-40 minutes on I-Ready. I am checking to see you are working. This is how I am taking attendance.


Technology: 10-15 minutes each on Keyboarding Without Tears and Hour of Code.


Religion and Science: Complete the Review for Unit 2 on p. 31-32. Read the top of p. 31 and complete the 5 fill in the blank sentences, 5 true/false and the three questions on Thinking it Through. Remember to write in complete sentences.


For Science - ask someone to at home to complete the Working Together activity on the bottom of p. 32 in your Family Life book with you and write about what you did.

Reading/Language Arts: Read Chapter 7 The Sailboard Race in Stuart Little, pages 36-56. Answer the questions for Chapter 7 on the Stuart Little Chapter 7-8 Questions page 1-4. You will do answer questions 5-7 tomorrow for 8. Also complete Chapter 7 The Sail Boat Race questions 1-7 and locate and define your vocabulary words for Chapter 7 - smartly, rigging, blotting, looming, tremble and yawning. You may use Google for your definitions. Keep working on your story board


Writing: Pick a Journal Prompt for today and either complete the activity or write a good 3rd grade paragraph (no less than 5-7 sentences). Use your paper in your journal to make sure your writing is complete. Don't forget to illustrate your writing.


Math: Complete 30-40 minutes on I-ready. I am checking your progress each day.


Technology: Complete 10-15 minutes on Keyboarding Without Tears and Hour of Code. You may do more, but you must do both.


Religion: Read Lesson 4 in your Family Life book, p. 27-30, Learning to Choose and complete the Command the Robot activity on p. 29 and Making Good Choices on p. 30.

Reading/Language Arts: Read Chapter 6 "A Fair Breeze" in Stuart Little, pages 26-35. Answer the 5 questions on the Stuart Little Chapter 6 Questions and the 5 questions on the Chapter 6 "A Fair Breeze" papers. Locate and define the chapter vocabulary words: gait, inconvenience, tartly, berth, detestable, bon voyage. You may use Google for definitions.


Writing: Choose your prompt for today. Please complete the activity or write a complete third grade paragraph (no less than 5-7 sentences). Make sure you are proofreading and don't forget to illustrate you work.


Math: 30-40 minutes on I-Ready. I am checking daily to see that you are working on math.


Technology: 15 minutes Keyboarding Without Tears or and 15 minutes on Hour of Code. 


Religion: You have your Good News for this week. Please read it and complete the activities. 


Science/Health: Go to https://sn3.scholastic.com, our login is sgsGrade3!. I would like you to click on the top row "Science" and read the March 18 article 5 Big Questions About Coronavirus and watch the Video: Your Immune System. We talked about this last week and watched the Tim and Moby Brain Pop.

Reading/Language Arts: Complete the Stuart Little Chapters 1-5 Test. There are three pages to this test and you can use all of your chapter work and the book for help you. Keep working on your Stuart Little story board.


Writing: Pick a journal prompt for today and complete the activity or write a good third grade (no less than 5-7 sentence) paragraph. Illustrate your writing


Math: Work on I-Ready for 30-40 minutes


Technology: Work on either Hour of Code or Keyboarding Without Tears for 10-15 minutes. Like yesterday, you can do both if you would like.


Religion: In your Family Life book read Lesson 3 - Feelings (p. 23-26) and complete the Following the Rules activity on p. 25 and the Listening to Your Feelings activity on p. 26.


Today's Bible readings are First Reading: 2Sm 7:4-5a, 12-14a 16, Second Reading: Rom 4:13, 16-18, 22 and Matthew 1:16, 18-21, 24a.


Social Studies: Read the story in your Scholastic News A Hero for Women and complete the An American Hero Timeline and close reading activity for the story that are in your packet. You can go online with the login from yesterday if you wish so you can watch the story video.

Reading/Language Arts: Read Chapters 4 and 5 of Stuart Little, pages 17-25. Answer the 5 questions on the Stuart Little Chapters 4-5 Questions page and the 6 questions on the Chapter 5 "Rescued" page in complete sentences. Locate and define the vocabulary words: vigorous, wedged, disgust, and exasperated. You may use Google for your definitions.


Writing: Choose a Journal Prompt. Don't forget to date your entry. Complete the activity or write a complete 3rd grade paragraph (no less than 5-7 sentences). Don't forget to illustrate your work.


Math: 30-40 minutes on I-Ready


Technology: 10-15 minutes on either Keyboarding without Tears or Hour of Code. You may do both if you wish.


Religion: Complete the Unit 1 Review on p. 19-20, you may use your book for this. 


Today's Bible readings are Dt 4:1, 5-9 and Matthew 5:17-19.


Social Studies: You can get on to the Scholastic website https://sn3.scholastic.com. Click Login and then the box that says I Am A Student, our class login is sgsGrade3!. I would like you to read one article today - A Game Changed My Life. You should also be able to see the video. I would like you to complete the Close Reading questions for this article that are in your packet.


 

 
 
3/17/2020 Distance Learning 3/17/20

Reading/Language Arts: Read Chapters 2 and 3 of Stuart Little, pages 7-16. Answer 5 questions for Chapter 2 in complete sentences. Locate and define vocabulary words: stooping, terrific, belittling, substitute and pantry. Illustrate and explain one of the 5 problems the Littles were experiencing. Answer the 5 questions for Chapter 3 in complete sentences. Locate and define vocabulary words: abdominal, wrapper, drawn and sill. You may use Google to help you define your vocabulary words. You can start working on your Stuart Little story board at any time while you are reading.


Writing: Journal activity, pick a new prompt and either complete the activity or write a complete paragraph, no less than 5-7 sentences. You may use 1/4 of the 2 pages to illustrate your writing. Don't forget to date your journal entry.


Math: 30-40 minutes on I-Ready


Technology: 10-15 minutes each on Keyboarding Without Tears and Hour of Code.


Religion: Family Life - Read Lesson 2 Family Living p. 15-18. Complete Sticking Together activity and complete the activity for I Celebrate with My Family. 


I will post the daily Bible readings so that if you wish, you may read them together as a family. Today's Bible readings are Dn 3:25, 34-43 and Matthew 18: 21-35.

Today is March 16, 2020


Reading and Language Arts: Stuart Little - Complete Pre-Reading Activity paragraphs. Read Chapter 1 pages 1-6 and answer the 8 questions from the chapter in complete sentences and locate and define vocabulary words - sharp, solemnly, streamed, trifle. You may use Google if you wish. 


Writing: Pick 1 journal prompt. Write a complete 5-7 or more sentence paragraph or appropriate writing for the prompt picked. You may use 1/4 of the page to illustrate your writing. Don't forget to date you prompt (3/16/20)


Math: 30-40 minutes on I-Ready


Technology: 10-15 minutes each on Keyboarding Without Tears and Hour of Code


Religion:Read p. 11-14 in Family Life book. Complete My Family Portrait on p. 13 and My Family Helps Me Grow questions 1-3 on p. 14.


Bible Readings for today - 2 Kings, Chapter 5, verses 1-15 and Luke Chapter 4 Verses 24-30.
