Jennifer Schloat - About Me

My name is Jennifer Lawton Schloat. I began my vocation at Saint Gabriel School in August 2016.  I teach Middle School Literature (Grades 6, 7 and 8), Language Arts  (Grades 7 and 8) and  Religion  (Grade 7).  I am also the Laudato Si' Captain for Saint Gabriel School and a member of the Social Justice Ministry for the Archdiocese of Hartford.
I live in Avon with my son William, my daughter Aurora and my husband Benjamin. 

Formal Education includes: 

  • B.A. in History from Charter Oak State College.
  • Connecticut Teacher Certification from CT ARC (Alternate Route to Certification).
  • M.A. in History at Central Connecticut State University.

In the past I have taught Social Studies, History and Geography to Grades 6,7 and 8 at a Catholic school in Meriden, Connecticut. I have also worked in the education departments of several museums and historic sites in Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts.
I am a bibliophile.  I love reading, watching movies, listening to music, attending live theater and travelling.
